The Shropshire Guild of Contemporary Craft was formed in 2001 to promote, display and sell the work of designers and makers of contemporary craft working in Shropshire. Although many of our members use traditional techniques we all derive a living from our skills designing and making contemporary objects.
We encourage members from all craft disciplines and currently are represented by practioners of Ceramics, Hot glass, Carpet weaving, Furniture, Jewellery, Musical instruments, Stained Glass, Textiles, Ironwork, Basket weaving and Clock Making.
We create beautiful objects that may be sculptural, functional or practical. Many of our designers create collectable ranges of products, although we also work to commission.
All our members are selected by their peers, established makers are encouraged to apply for membership.
We hold three or four selling shows or exhibitions each year (see diary). The largest of which, Gorgeous, is held at Ironbridge, Shropshire in October for which we invite over fifty of the best craftsmen and women from the West Midlands.
Call For Makers
We are inviting designer makers working in the West Midlands region to apply for stands at the Gorgeous Exhibition in October - click here for details.
Besides being a selling show we provide lectures and demonstrations to involve and inform our audience of the crafts skills on show.
So from bespoke cabinets to carpets, crocks to clocks we make individual stunningly attractive objects for the home and garden.
